Today, November 17, is World Prematurity Day – the day we raise awareness about pre-term birth. Worldwide more than 1 in 10 babies are born prematurely, which is the leading cause of death in newborns. The youngest baby known to survive was born at 22 weeks gestation. Most families who stay at Topeka’s Ronald McDonald House have a premature baby in the NICU at Stormont Vail Health. Please join us in celebrating this day and thinking of the babies that were born too soon.
